Kilt Peregrine Dedicated Node Infrastructure

Kilt Peregrine is the current testnet of the KILT Protocol, designed for developers to learn, test, and experiment with the latest features before deploying on the mainnet. As a Polkadot parachain, Kilt Peregrine provides a sandbox environment for building decentralized identity (DID) solutions, attesting credentials, and verifying claims without real-world consequences.

Why Use a Dedicated Node for Kilt Peregrine?

While public RPC endpoints are available for light testing, production-grade development on Kilt Peregrine often requires a dedicated node. A dedicated node gives you:

  • Stable and consistent access without rate limits or contention from other users.
  • Full control over node configuration – choose between full, archive, or collator node types.
  • Enhanced monitoring and analytics to track request volumes, errors, and performance.
  • Seamless failover with fallback to shared RPC endpoints if your dedicated node becomes unavailable (available with Enterprise Grade Services).

What Can You Build on Kilt Peregrine?

Developers use Kilt Peregrine to test:

  • DID creation and management – experiment with decentralized identifiers.
  • Credential attestation and verification – simulate the full lifecycle of KILT credentials.
  • Cross-chain DID features – test the DIP (DID Integration Protocol) for authorizing extrinsics on other parachains.
  • Wallet integrations – connect wallets like Sporran to the Peregrine network.

OnFinality Managed Node Infrastructure

OnFinality provides fully managed dedicated nodes for Kilt Peregrine, handling node deployment, monitoring, upgrades, and support. Our infrastructure is globally distributed across multiple cloud providers, ensuring low-latency access for your applications.

Available node types:

  • Full node – complete blockchain state, suitable for most applications.
  • Archive node – full historical state, required for queries that need past data.
  • Collator node – for teams participating in block production (if applicable).

Key features:

  • One-click deployment via the OnFinality dashboard.
  • Real-time metrics and alerts.
  • Automatic backups and disaster recovery.
  • Enterprise-grade SLAs and priority support (add-on).

How to Get Started

  1. Sign in to your OnFinality account.
  2. Navigate to the Kilt Peregrine network page.
  3. Choose your node type (full, archive, or collator).
  4. Deploy your dedicated node and obtain the JSON-RPC and WebSocket endpoints.
  5. Test connectivity using chain_getBlock or other Substrate RPC methods.
  6. Monitor usage and scale as needed.
